The water splashed more violently in the bathtub.

Alice's sense of shhad completely disappeared. Her emotions took over, and her body trembled as soft sobs escaped her.

Caden relished these moments. Watching her cry made her seem helpless as she clung to him tightly, desperate for any sense of stability.

In his spare time, he used to bring gifts when he visited Harley in the hospital.

Harley's recovery from surgery was going well, and Alicia spared no expense. She made sure Harley received the best care, from living conditions to medication.

"I haven't contributed much. You shouldn't spend all this," Gina said.

Alice also felt a pang of guilt.

"Were you thinking of quitting before you agreed to help me?" I have asked.

Gina laughed at the idea. "No, I've always been Lilliana's punching bag. She made it clear that if I left, I'd never find another job as an assistant. With Harley's medical bills piling up, I couldn't afford to walk away from a job like that." When Alice heard the term "punching bag" and thought of Lilliana's attitude, she realized that Gina must have toughened up a lot.

Alice felt a pang of sympathy for her.

"When Harley is discharged, you won't have to work as hard anymore," Alice said quietly. "When this is all over, the Green family won't bother you and you'll be able to find a job that makes you truly happy." Gina looked at her with a hint of envy.

Alice felt sorry for her.

It was clear that Alicia's life was in a much better place now.

"Miss Bennett, my situation is not your responsibility. You don't need to feel sorry for me. I'm helping you because I want to. Besides, you saved Harley's life. Everything I've done for you is nothing compared to that," Gina said with a soft smile.

Alice felt a lump form in her throat as emotion welled up inside her.

"Thank you," Alice said softly. She then offered more comforting words that seemed to ease Gina's heart.

"I understand, Mrs. Bennett," Gina replied with a warm smile. It was then that she noticed the shopping bag lying next to Alicia.

He was able to recognize the logo.

It was from a hgoods store that she frequently visited to purchase Lilliana's personal items.

A tag hung from the bag, revealing that it contained a pair of men's pajamas in size triple XL.

Gina smiled knowingly. "Miss Bennett, you should go home. Don't keep your family waiting." Alice followed her gaze to the bag and quickly turned red, feeling a little embarrassed.

She hadn't bought the pajamas specifically for Caden. He had casually mentioned that he needed new ones last time, so she grabbed a pair while she was shopping for other things today.

"Okay, I'm leaving now. Take care of yourself." "I will," Gina replied.

In order not to attract attention, Gina did not accompany her. Alicia had not gone very far when she crossed paths with Joshua and Lilliana.

Lilliana was wearing sunglasses and looked irritated. On the other hand, Joshua had a blank expression and hostility was reflected in his eyes.

"You said it yourself. She's my ex-wife. She doesn't mean anything toanymore." He squeezed Lilliana's hand tightly. "Let's go." Alice kept her mouth shut. She couldn't wait to get away from them.

But Lilliana wasn't finished. She read over and hissed, "Alice, you're an orphan. So you're not here visiting family. Are you the one dying of cancer?" Alice's gaze drifted to Lilliana's swollen belly.

Alice calmly replied, "You're pregnant. Try to be kind, if not for yourself, then for your baby." Lilliana rubbed her belly and took a step closer.

Alice looked at her.

Lilliana's cocky attitude mirrored Joshua's perfectly. "I underestimated you, Alicia," Lilliana said. "Who would have thought you would end up with Caden?"

With the Yates family facing trouble, the Green family had been dragged into the mess. They were now under investigation for reasons they could not explain. Everything was spiraling into chaos.

Lilliana knew it was Alicia who had instigated Caden to act, and the thought made her want to destroy Alicia.
