Chapter 125:

Alicia was already waiting downstairs in Caden's office building.

"I can cup if you're free now," she texted.

Caden was a little surprised at her impatience.

Did you want to do it in the office?

He couldn't deny that the idea of having sex in his office was intriguing.

Caden replied, “Yes. | have granted you access. Con in.”

Alicia's response was not long in coming. "Aren't you in the office?"

“I'll be there soon. Wait for me,” Caden replied. He had just arrived at the pharmacy and was in the middle of

picking up sthings.

She carefully selected two boxes of condoms and added several aftercare products to the basket.

After finishing his purchase, Caden returned to the company. On the way, | met Hank.

Hank looked anxious, holding his phone as if it were burning his hand. “It's Mrs. Ward,” he said.

Caden frowned. “Why didn't you answer?”

Hank answered, “I answered the first call, but she insisted on speaking directly to you. She seemed very upset.

“I think she’s about to storm over here.” The phone continued to ring, and the sound becincreasingly

squeaky.

Caden sighed, realizing he had no choice. He headed toward the living room to take the call.

As soon as she answered, Ciara started demanding answers. “Your doctor toldthat you haven't had a

checkup in ages. Can you explain why?”

Caden had anticipated it.

He replied in a flat tone: “I've been feeling fine.”

“Not again! You always use that excuse to avoid your treatments. Do you think I'm that easy to fool?” she

snapped.

“This tis different,” Caden replied.

Her anger only seemed to increase. “You said exactly the sthing last time! Can't you at least cup with

something new? I'm sick of hearing this.”

Caden didn't answer, preferring silence.

Ciara continued: “If you refuse treatment, | will go there myself to make sure you are doing what you are

supposed to be doing. “I will be there next week, so you better take care of yourself.”

"Medicine. If | find something wrong, you'll regret it!"

Caden rubbed his temples in frustration. “Why bother with treatment anyway? It’s just a minor issue.”

Ciara snapped, “How do you expectto have great-grandchildren if you don't take care of yourself? Don't you

want to get married? Are you planning to stay single forever?”

“You want great-grandchildren? I'll have Hank sort that out for you,” Caden replied.

Hank was stunned. Why me? Why me? he thought to himself.

Caden knew that continuing the argument would only make Ciara angry, so he decided to end the call.

Hank picked up the phone again, looking worried. “Mrs. Ward seems to be serious this time. Maybe I'd listen

better and cooperate with the treatment.”

Caden replied nonchalantly, “If she hadn't called, | would already be treated.”

Hank stood, momentarily bewildered.

Her eyes fell on the pharmacy bag in Caden's hand, and it dawned on her. “Mr. Ward, are you buying random

drugs again?”

Caden stepped into the elevator and brought the bag to his other hand.

Hank rushed in after him.

“Are you sure it’s safe?” Hank asked. He was worried that Caden might be jumping the gun and taking the wrong

pills. “You're not a doctor. What if you make a mistake? What if it causes a problem?”

Caden replied, “You don't have to worry.”

“Of course | have to worry! Mrs. Ward made it clear that | have to keep an eye on you. It's one thing for you to

refuse proper treatment, but if you take the wrong medicine, she'll kill me.”

When they arrived at the office, Caden looked around, but Alicia was nowhere to be seen.

She assumed he was late and put the pharmacy bag in a drawer.

Hank noticed the careful way Caden carried her, and his concern only grew.

"Mr. Ward, forgivefor speaking bluntly," she said. "You're already on a lot of medication, and it's putting a

strain on your kidneys. If you keep buying more on your own, I'm worried you won't make it to thirty."

Caden had heard this sermon countless times. To him, Hank sounded like a broken record.

She knew her own body and knew exactly how much medication she could take.

Since Hank enjoyed nagging, Caden let him do it. He simply ignored him and focused on his own work.

Then something seemed to click in Hank's mind. “Mr. “Ward, is all this medication because you're getting ready

to have sex?” he asked tentatively.

Caden leaned back in his chair, not bothering to answer. Instead, he picked up his phone and sent a quick text to

Alicia. “Where are you?”

Alicia was in the bathroom at that moment.

She was about to answer after washing her hands when she suddenly heard Hank's voice coming from the other

side of the door.

“Is that person Miss Bennett?” Hank asked.

Hearing her name, Alice stopped.

He put the phone away and listened attentively.

“Yes,” Caden replied.

Hank's tone changed to one of exasperation. "Aren't you and she on the spage? Then why do you need

medication?"

“Who said | was on medication?” Caden replied.

“Don't lie to me!” Hank argued bravely. “Who used Viagra last time, then?”

Caden was speechless.

It was just an accident. It was a joke Alice had played on him.

Still, he didn't bother to explain. He looked at his phone, annoyed that Alicia still hadn't responded.

Caden frowned.

Why was it taking so long?

Alicia was focused on listening to the conversation.

Her phone suddenly rang, starting her.

She quickly ended the call, but it was too late. Caden had already heard her.

He turned around, and his eyes locked with hers immediately.
