Chapter 3400

"That will be all." The Queen waved her hand. "It’s getting late. You may all leave now."

The Queen was exhausted after all that had happened that night. Darius and the royal guards quickly left the

room. Darryl followed them out and was shown to his new accommodation, and had the best sleep ever.

The following day, he was given the soft armor worn by all the royal guards. After putting it on, he was delighted

that he had a legit reason for being in the palace, which made his search for the Holy Jade Scripture that much

easier.

Once the Holy Jade Scripture was in his hands, he would find Yuri and leave that world together. Darryl guessed

that the Queen would not be in her room during the day and wanted to use that opportunity to search for the

scripture. He was on his way to her room when someone stopped him with a shout.

Darryl stopped and turned. He frowned when he saw a bunch of unfriendly-looking patrol guards making their

way to him. The leader of the group was around thirty years old and was sporting a haughty expression. He was

none other than Barclay Shepard, captain of the patrol guards.

Barclay gave Darryl a once-over. "Are you the new front guard, Darren Derby?" He was

known to have an arrogant personality and was very upset when he learned that a man

with saint king strength had been given the position of a front guard. That was why he

took the time to check on Darryl.

"Yes, that's right," Darryl replied with a nod.

"I heard you're the one who killed Winson and assisted Her Majesty in taking out Vernon.

But I must say, you don't seem that powerful to me," Barclay said with undisguised

contempt. He questioned the Queen's judgment for making a man at saint king's level a

front guard. His men roared with laughter as they looked at Darryl with disdain.

Darryl did not want to waste his breath talking to him. "Is there anything else? otherwise,

please excuse me." He did not wait for Barclay's reply and turned to leave.

Barclay was very displeased with Darryl's attitude. "That's some air you've put on."

Immediately, a guard blocked Darryl's path. "Did the Captain say that you can leave? Why

didn't you bow to him? Have you no manners?" he asked cockily. The guard was called

Jesse Barett. He was one of the patrol guards under Barclay. He could see that Barclay was

unhappy with Darryl and so decided to do what he did best—flattering his captain.

Darryl frowned. "I'm a front guard. You are patrol guards. So why should I bow to your

captain?"

"How dare you!" Jesse's face became beet red.

Darryl was right. The front guards were under the Queen's jurisdiction, and their status

was higher than those of the patrol guards. It was why Barclay saw Darryl as a thorn.

"Interesting." Barclay walked toward him and looked at him provocatively. "So you think it's natural for you to be

a front guard. I want to challenge you to a fight now! Let's see if you're really as powerful as you think."

Even though royal guards were not allowed to fight amongst themselves, they were allowed to issue formal

challenges. Barclay was confident that, with his cultivation of saint honor, he would easily beat Darryl.

Barclay's subordinates became excited at the turn of the events.

"You're so cool, Captain!" 1

"Do you accept our captain's challenge, punk?" "I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't!"
