Chapter 199 Victoria raised her eyebrow slightly, and the scar at the edge of her brow made her seem especially hostile. “Did you just say you want to help me?” “You're a murderer, and you have been chased out of the Coleman Family. Even if Christian likes you, the Thatchers would never allow him to be with you! Instead, the Thatchers would arrange a marriage for Christian. If you continue to stay with him, you will turn into a mistress. What would others think of you then?” Lucas asked.
The woman smirked. “I can’t believe you considered all of that, Mr. Spritz. For a while, | thought your brain was just there to make you look taller!” “Victoria!” he barked. She doesn’t know her limits at all! “Why are you shouting at me? I'm a cripple, but I'm not deaf!” She shot him a glare. “Are you helping me get away from Christian because you care for me? Or do you just want to clear the way for Bella to date him? Or... do you want me to be with you?” she uttered.
Lucas’ back muscles were tight and tense as he avoided the woman's gaze. “You just have to tell me—do you want to leave Christian or not?” “Don’t you know how much | love money and power, Mr. Spritz?” Victoria asked. “It wasn’t easy for me to get together with Christian, so why would | leave him now? Do | look like an idiot?” Her response made Lucas’ face turn pale. “But if you continue to stay with him, you'll just be a third party that everyone despises! You'll become the extra person in a couple's marriage! | know you want money and power, but don’t you have any basic morality and dignity?!” he cried.
“You can ask Bella that question. I'd like to know how she feels about failing to get Christian even after she threw her conscience away.” Victoria's face looked the same as she did before, yet for some reason, Lucas found himself despising her right then. He fixed his sharp glare on her, and she could see a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“You don't have anything else to say, right?” In the past, Victoria might have felt hurt after seeing the look in Lucas’ eyes, but she no longer felt anything at that point. Perhaps I've gotten used to his criticism, she thought.
“How much money do you want? I'll give you the amount you need as long as | can afford it!” Lucas’ words sounded like they were forced out of his throat as he looked directly into the woman's eyes. She smirked as she gave him an answer. “I don’t think you'd be able to afford it. Spritz Group has a large business, but it’s nothing in comparison to Thatcher Group. Furthermore, Christian is practically in charge of the whole Thatcher Group. What about you? You'd probably have to wait for another 10 to 20 years for your father to retire before you take over, hun?” The bulging veins on Lucas’ forehead looked like they were about to burst. “Why do you have to be so business-minded?!” he growled.
“Isn't that how you've known me all along? I'm not just business-minded; I'm also cruel, unforgiving, and harsh with my actions, aren't 1?” she hissed bitterly.
“Isn't that how you've known me all along? I'm not just business-minded; I'm also cruel, unforgiving, and harsh with my actions, aren't 1?” she hissed bitterly.
Lucas stared at her for a long while without saying anything. “Remember what you said. You'll have to stay away from me if you ever see me anywhere,” Victoria uttered as she turned and walked to the door. “I don’t want your mother, your fiancée, and your sister to call me a homewrecker when they see me. Christian might misunderstand something.” Lucas clenched his fists as he gazed at the woman with his eyes filled with agony. He finally let out a tired sigh just as Victoria was about to step out of the door. “Why don’t you finish your drink first?” “It's fine. | don't feel like drinking anything when | have to look at your face while doing it,” she spat before opening the door and walking out. The moment the door shut behind her, the sunlight from outside disappeared, and Lucas felt his heart turning heavy along with the darkness. His insides felt hollow as he walked around the bar and went behind it to get himself a bottle of red wine. He popped it open and chugged it directly from the bottle.
As some of the red wine trickled down the side of his lips, clear, glistening teardrops rolled down his cheeks and merged with the red wine before flowing down his neck. The liquids felt cold against his skin, and he could feel a sharp pain in his chest.
Victoria bumped into Scarlett right after she left the bar. She wanted to walk past Scarlett without greeting her, but Scarlett stopped Victoria in her tracks. “Is Lucas inside?” Scarlett asked while glaring at Victoria. There was a hateful look in Scarlett’s eyes. “Yeah,” Victoria muttered.
“Was it just both of you in the bar?” Scarlett asked again.
“Yes.” Upon hearing Victoria's answer, Scarlett twisted her expression into one of pure rage. She held her hand up and was about to slap Victoria, but Victoria blocked her attack before it happened. Then, Victoria pushed Scarlett away with all her might.
Victoria was a woman who had enough strength to make Lucas stagger and fall, so a petite and frail woman like Scarlett was no match for her at all.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Ah!” Scarlett let out a cry before she stumbled backward and fell onto the ground with a loud thump. The fall hurt so bad that she started tearing up. Her 6-inch stilettos broke as a result of the fall. When Scarlett glanced up, she saw Victoria glaring down at her from above with the same emotionless expression on her face. Scarlett was used to having Victoria look down upon her.
Moments after Scarlett recovered from the shock of her fall, she felt her insides boiling with rage.
“Do you know what you're doing?!” Scarlett howled as she looked up at Victoria.
“Of course. | managed to avoid a brutal attack just in time, and | successfully protected myself,” Victoria replied. She was clearly stating the obvious, which only made Scarlett more infuriated. Scarlett’s face turned pale as she felt a lump in her throat. She couldn not seem to get rid of the lump even as she continued shouting at Victoria. “You're no longer part of the Coleman Family, Victoria!” Scarlett cried while using the ground to push herself up to a standing position. Her posture was rather awkward because of her broken stilettos.
“So?” Victoria smirked while asking.
Scarlett glared at the other woman. “You're no longer the precious daughter of the Coleman Family. You're a murderer who was just released from jail and a lady who works in a club. You should remember your position in society whenever you're speaking to others!” “What do you mean by that? Do you want me to call you Miss Palmer? Do you want me to speak to you respectfully? Do you think | should let you embarrass and hit me without fighting back at all?” Victoria asked in return.
Scarlett merely scoffed without saying anything, implying that she agreed with Victoria's words. “Sure, | may no longer be a part of the Coleman Family, but I'm dating Christian.” Victoria grinned. “Haven't you heard?” Scarlett’s face turned sour at that point. She had not just heard it from anyone—she had heard it from Christian himself! “Well, it seems like you've heard about it,” Victoria concluded. “Then, you should stop messing around with me. What do you think will happen if | tell Christian that you made me mad?” Scarlett’s face turned pale, but she refused to show any weakness in front of Victoria. “You're acting all cocky just because you managed to get President Thatcher. Do you think a murderer like you can actually get married to him?” “Why does it matter whether | get to marry him or not?” Victoria uttered flatly. “Do you think | can’t bully you with my status as Christians girlfriend?” Her words were extremely triggering, yet Scarlett could not seem to argue against them. Even though the Palmer Family was relatively well-to-do, they were nothing in comparison to the Thatchers and the Brookes.
Scarlett’s face darkened as she frowned, like she was constipated. “You're President Thatcher's girlfriend, yet you're still fooling around with Lucas. Doesn't that make you look bad? Don't you think President Thatcher might dump you if he finds out about this?” “You can try telling Christian about this. We'll see if it's you or | who gets into trouble,” Victoria replied.
