Dawn broke, and Zach, despite a sleepless night, emerged from the bathroom full of energy. He picked a black floral shirt from his wardrobe, one that Madelyn had chosen for him.
Initially, Zach had resisted wearing such a flashy shirt, but gradually he found himself wearing it nearly every day, alternating with another of Madelyn's selections.
Madelyn had been restless since six in the morning, a sense of unease nudging her to check on Dalton. She found his forehead feverish to the touch. Thankfully, after administering medicine from his special medicine kit, his temperature began to subside.
"Get dressed, you're coming to the office with me," Zach announced.

He touched her feverish forehead and said, "I'll make my morning meeting quick and come right back. Kai will keep an eye on you." Madelyn leaned back, reluctant. "I don't want to see him." "Be sensible. Your health is more important." Zach urged.
Madelyn looked conflicted and said, "You seem to trust him a lot." Zach explained, "SereneCare Hospital is an investment of Jardin Corporation. It makes sense to call him." After that, Zach dialed Kai's number. Kai groaned when Zach's call came in, looking at the time. Having operated until 2 am, he had managed only two hours of sleep before being roused by the ring.
"Zach, it's too damn early. | just got into bed," Kai protested.
"You have thirty minutes," Zach replied, ending the call swiftly.
Despite his exhaustion, Kai got up and dressed, concerned for Madelyn.
Lana, in her late stages of pregnancy, woke up at the slightest noise and went to the living room. She and Kai had been sleeping in separate rooms during her pregnancy.
As Kai put on his coat, he saw Lana in the living room and asked, "Why are you up? Are you feeling okay?" "It's late. Are you going out?" Lana asked.
Kai, slipping on his shoes, said, "Yes, if it wasn't serious, he wouldn't have called. I'm worried it might be a complication from Madelyn's cancer treatment. I'll be back soon. Go back to sleep." Lana, clearly upset, said, "Why do you have to go? You and your odd hours don't seem to consider me at all.” Suddenly, Lana felt a sharp pain in her head.
Kai, concerned, stepped closer. "What's wrong?" "I don't need you. Just go," Lana snapped, turning and slamming the bedroom door behind her.
Kai looked at the closed door, lost for words. He then messaged the maid to come early. He had to go whenever he was called because he owed it to Madelyn.

When Kai arrived at South Haven Villa, the sun had risen. He was led to the master bedroom where Madelyn lay in bed, Dalton sleeping beside her.
Kai joked, "I'm here so often, | might as well be your family doctor.” Zach, stern, said, "Cut the small talk." After examining Madelyn, Kai said, "It's not serious, just anemia. Have you been feeling dizzy or nauseous?" "A bit," Madelyn confirmed.
"Try eating lighter foods and more vegetables,” Kai advised.
Zach, emotionless, stood up. "Let's talk in the study.” Kai patted Madelyn's head and said, "Rest well." Madelyn remained silent, indifferent to his presence.
In the study, Kai slumped on the sofa. "What do you want to talk about?" Zach showed Kai a video on a tablet. It was of a woman in a hoodie, her face hidden. When they made the video clearer, they could see the woman had a burned face.
"Who is she?" Kai asked.
Zach replied, "Yvonne." Kai, stunned, said, "So she's alive. What about Ethan?" Zach said, "We'll have to ask her."
