"You still have someone else in your heart, right?" To be precise, she had always had Arnold in her heart, never him, right? A wistful smile slowly spread across Aurelia's face. "So what if | do? I'm not a hopeless romantic. Why should | hang all my hopes on one branch?" Leopold let out a wry smile. "But I've always wanted to hang onto your branch alone. Maybe I'm the hopeless romantic here." Aurelia chuckled derisively. "Oh please, even if every soul on earth were moonstruck, you, Mr. Leopold, would be the last one." He was tough as nails, quick to give the boot to any woman he didn't fancy, without sentiment.
She had no intention of becoming one of those women, left with a pitiful fate.
Leopold sighed heavily. "How can you claim to knowwhen you won't even try?" Aurelia's smile faltered. "How could I? You keep yourself so hidden. It's like trying to understand a man shrouded in mist." A man like him, sly as a fox with cards close to his chest, always remained enigmatic, perpetually elusive.
Leopold turned her to face him.
"In front of you, I've never hidden a thing." Yeah, right! Aurelia pursed her lips. "Then be honest with me. Why did you want a divorce? What's your plan?" Leopold's lips thinned, and a torrent of unspoken words lodged in his throat. For a minute, he felt the urge to spill everything, but then he clammed up.

"I'll tell you someday," answered Leopold.
Aurelia knew he'd say that. It was always the swith him, secretive and mysterious.
"Fine, keep your secrets. I'm used to it by now." Leopold wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Just givea little more time. I'll explain everything soon." What Aurelia feared most was that he had struck sdeal with Megan. The antibiotics weren't from the research facility but from the AK Group.
She didn't want her life controlled by Megan or the AK Group, nor did she want him threatened by an adversary.
But that didn't mean she could forgive him. He always acted unilaterally, never consulting her or seeking her opinion.
"It's late. I'm tired. I'm going to bed." Replying, she shrugged off his hand and went upstairs.
Frustrated and agitated, Leopold punched the wall, his knuckles meeting the hard surface with a dull thud.
Aurelia glanced back reflexively, and her heart was aching sharply.
Blood had welled up on the back of his hand. The man was relentless, even towards himself.
That night, she lay in her room, the door unlocked.
In the dead of night, the door creaked open, and a figure stealthily cin, slipping beside her and wrapping arms around her from behind.

"lI want to sleep alone." "I can't. Without holding you, | can't sleep," Leopold murmured, burying his face in Aurelia's neck.
Aurelia felt annoyance and resignation. She should have locked the door.
"I'm going back to Blossom Villa tomorrow. Arnold's away, and | need to look after William." Leopold tensed slightly. "Why not have him stay here?" Aurelia pouted. William couldn't parade around in disguise all day and night. At home, he could be himself.
"William isn't comfortable here. It's inconvenient. And you're supposed to be a bodyguard now." "Split your time. Spend half here and half there," Leopold commanded, not asking for her consent.
Annoyed, Aurelia pinched the back of his hand sharply, unintentionally hitting his fresh wound, eliciting a muffled groan.
Only then did she remember his injured hand. She quickly turned on the light.
His hand was bleeding again, untreated as if he was purposely torturing himself with the pain.
"You're not into self-punishment, are you?" she asked, half in jest, half in genuine concern.
