The lady gazed at Avery in shock. “Two kids? That is fast! You're like an unmarried lady with a great
curve! I bet no one can tell that you're already a mother of two kids!”
Avery twitched her lips shyly.
Before leaving the small town, Cayden asked to chat with his old classmate privately.
Cayden's expression looked grim as he was talking. His classmate, carrying his kid in his arms,
listened attentively and nodded from time to time.
On the way back to Ackleton, Avery didn't ask a question about that. Instead, she drifted off asleep.
The road was smooth when they arrived at the city center. Also, because Cayden intentionally slowed
down, she slept soundly and didn't wake up even when they had arrived at the condominium.
After some time, Avery woke up because of the pain caused by her menstrual cramps.
Avery breathed heavily and placed her hands on her belly after opening her eyes. Her face looked
pale, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on her forehead.
Cayden happened to finish smoking outside the car at that time. He turned around and noticed that
Avery was pale-looking.
He frowned in worry upon seeing that. The next moment, he opened the car door and titled Avery's
face toward him. “What's wrong? Are you in pain?”
Not able to think of anything else, she nodded with her eyes closed.
“Let's go upstairs. You have to lie down and get some rest.” Without hesitation, Cayden unbuckled the
seat belt and carried her out with care.
However, Avery refused to let him carry her, and she insisted on walking by herself.
“Don't move. Otherwise, I'll ask Xavier and the police to halt their mission and come back.” Cayden had
no intention to talk some sense into her, nor did he want to persuade her with patience, for he knew
that posing a threat would be more efficient to make her comply.
Just as he expected, Avery stopped struggling upon hearing his words.
Nothing was more important than locating Blake at that moment.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAfter all, Avery was nothing more than an ordinary citizen. Under certain circumstances, an influential
and powerful figure like Cayden could solve the situation in a much more effective way.
It was the harsh reality that Avery had to accept.
Although their unit was well-equipped, Cayden was at his wit's end when it came to handling a woman
who was experiencing menstrual cramps.
Avery was forced to lie on his bed with blankets wrapped around her.
Meanwhile, Cayden stared at the brand new utensil in the kitchen, unsure of what he ought to do next.
While Cayden was deep in thought, his phone rang. It was Xavier who was ringing him.
Cayden picked up his phone and asked, “What is it?”
Not daring to speak any unnecessary words, Xavier cut to the chase and said, “I have to report two
things to you. First, we haven't found Ms. Rumpley's grandpa yet. The police have ruled out the
possibility of a car accident or homicide for the time being, for no police stations have received any
related reports thus far. Based on your instruction, we contacted various TV channels, and they
broadcast the notice about the missing person and the reward for any useful information this morning.
Hence, we'll have to wait for the results.”
He paused for a while and continued, “Second, regarding the incident of Ms. Rumpley consuming a
sleeping pill the other night, the person in charge of the entertainment establishment has investigated
it. It has something to do with Ms. Rumpley's ex-boyfriend, Zayne.”
Cayden's expression turned cold once he heard Zayne's name. “Send him to prison!”
“I'll ask the police to get him right now.” Xavier knew very well that Zayne had crossed Cayden's bottom
line.
The residential area in which Avery rented a house was chaotic now. Even the neighbors who had
gotten to know Blake after some youngsters tried to scam him were concerned about him.
Just as Xavier wanted to hang up, Cayden asked in a deep voice over the phone, “Did your ex-wife
experience menstrual cramps before?”
Xavier was stunned for a while before he responded honestly, “We got a divorce because she thought I
didn't care enough about her. I don't know much about menstrual cramps.”
When Cayden wanted to end the call, Xavier saw Cecelia who had just arrived at the residential area in
her car. Hence, Xavier hastily added, “There is a woman in front of me who might have experienced
menstrual cramps. Let me ask her about that.”
“I want to know the effective methods that she has tried before.” Cayden didn't look for the methods
online, worrying that the wrong methods would worsen Avery's condition.
Xavier put his phone in his pocket and walked toward Cecelia's car that she had just parked nicely. As
soon as Cecelia got out of the car, he pinned her against the car and asked, “Have you experienced
menstrual cramps?”
“Ah?”
While Cecelia was startled, Xavier lifted his phone and explained, “I'm asking it for Boss.”
After a while, Cecelia nodded.
“Well, what are the effective methods to alleviate the pain? I need to know those that you've tried
before,” Xavier continued.
Without further delay, Cecelia told him the best method she used to apply.
The next moment, Xavier reported it to Cayden.
After Xavier hung up the phone, Cecelia was on the verge of tears. “Everyone's physique is different. If
the method doesn't work on Avery, will Boss get furious and fire me?”
Xavier glanced at her, speechless.
Cayden headed toward the nearest supermarket after talking to Xavier.
Later, he mixed white wine with brown sugar and boiled it. Once the drink was ready, he brought a
glass of the drink to the bedroom and helped Avery to sit up. “Drink it while it's still warm.”
Avery's face looked a lot paler due to the pain. She shook her head upon seeing the drink. “Just give
me a painkiller.”
“You might become dependent on painkillers, and that's not good. Besides, it can only relieve your pain
for a short time.” Once Cayden finished, he took a mouthful of the drink, pulled her closer, and pressed

Although the drink tasted horrible, he continued to feed her patiently.
After Avery finished the drink, he grabbed a pillow and placed it under her waist.
Then, he leaned against the headboard and held her in his arms. From time to time, he would rub his
palms to warm them up and put them on her belly, just like how he did the previous night.
Seeing that Cayden cared so much about her, Avery cried so hard that her body trembled. She was
unsure if her decision to hide the truth from him was merciful.
After knowing they were blood-related, she couldn't help but think Allie's revelation was cruel.
Avery cried her lungs out as she thought of the harsh fact.
Since Avery was deeply tormented by the truth, she didn't want Cayden to suffer the same pain.
Meanwhile, Cayden dared not kiss Avery and only hugged her. He kept rubbing and blowing on his
hands to keep them warm so that he could massage her back and belly to make her feel better.
“We're overstepping the boundary...” Avery thought they were not supposed to be that intimate.
However, since Cayden had no idea about their relationship, she was the only one who was guilt-
ridden.
“Did you say we're overstepping the boundary?” Cayden asked curiously.
Bearing the physical pain and mental torment, Avery stood up and walked toward the door without
asking for his help.
Feeling bewildered, Cayden grabbed her arm and asked, “Where are you going?”
Deep down, he could sense something was wrong, and that had caused them to grow apart. Both of
them would continue to suffer if they did not talk things through.
Although he was irritated, he did not want to snap at her.
Besides, he didn't believe that Zayne was the cause.
While Zayne wasn't that outstanding, Avery wasn't that silly either.
“I'll go home first. It's just menstrual cramps. I'm fine.” Avery was afraid to look up at Cayden as she
spoke. With that, she opened the door and left.
At that moment, Cayden's eyes turned bloodshot.
