Chapter 297:

Stella's feelings for RK—the hatred, the love, the attachment, and the reluctance to let go—were all things she

wanted to release.

She felt like she had finally moved past him. For six long years, she had been searching for reasons for

everything that had happened between them, clinging to her obsession with him. In the past, she couldn't let go,

but now, she realized she could even let go of the need for answers, the explanations for why he abandoned her

six years ago.

Staring out the window at the sunlight filtering through the green leaves, she felt a sense of relief wash over her.

It felt good to be free of that obsession.

Meanwhile, RK’s routine remained unchanged. He still rarely went home. When he did return, Cassidy had

already finished preparing dinner. Alia and Adrian were sitting at the table, cutlery in hand, waiting to eat.

“Daddy, you're back! Is Aunt Stella okay?” Alia’s face lit up when she saw her father, who hadn’t been hin

days. She quickly ran into his arms.

“Mm-hmm, she’s alright now. She’s much better. She’s eating more than before,” RK said, scooping up Alia in his

arms. He looked over at Adrian, who sat at the table with a straight face, pretending to be indifferent, though his

ears were clearly listening intently.

“Then can you chmore often to eat with us in the future?” Alia asked sincerely. “You haven't eaten with

us for a few days. Adrian misses you too!” she added with an innocent smile.

Hearing Alia mention his name, Adrian snorted arrogantly but remained silent.

After dinner, RK told Alia a bedtstory, and once she was asleep, he headed to Adrian's room.

The lights in Adrian’s room were still on. When RK pushed open the door, Adrian was sitting on the bed, lost in

thought, clutching his little Stitch doll.

RK knocked gently on the doorframe. Adrian glanced over but quickly lowered his head again.

RK walked over and knelt beside him. “Adrian, are you feeling down?” RK asked softly, brushing his hand over

the boy’s hair. Adrian remained silent.

“Darling is alright. You saw her today, right? She was smiling at you. Do you remember?” RK’s voice was calm

and comforting. “She’ll recover soon.”

“Really? Darling will be okay?” Adrian's eyes filled with tears, looking up at RK with a glimmer of hope.

“Of course. By the tyou start first grade, she’ll be well enough to take you to school again,” RK reassured

him with a smile.

“Really? Darling will be fine soon?” Adrian's eyes sparkled as his spirits lifted.

“Yes, she'll be fine soon,” RK confirmed firmly.

It took RK a while to coax Adrian to sleep. When he returned to his bedroom, RK showered and lay down on his

bed, but sleep wouldn't come.

Was Stella sleeping well? What if she needed water in the middle of the night? What if she had a nightmare? Or

maybe she wanted to hear a joke?

No, there was a nurse with her. An experienced one. He needed to trust her and stop worrying. But what if the

nurse fell asleep?

By midnight, RK found himself back at the hospital. When he entered the ward, he saw Stella sound asleep. Her

breathing was steady and deep, and she looked peaceful.

She was having a restful night, but RK had been tormented by his thoughts. He eventually lay down beside her

bed and fell asleep.

The next morning, Stella faintly heard birds chirping. As she opened her eyes, she saw RK fast asleep, his head

resting on the side of her hospital bed.

Squinting, she studied his face. RK’s features were clean and sharp, his skin as smooth and fair as porcelain.

Even after a sleepless night, he didn’t have a trace of dark circles under his eyes. His flawless complexion would

make most women envious. And his physique—tall, lean, and muscular—was the epitof athletic grace.

Six years ago, RK wasn’t as mature and composed as he was now, but even back then, his handsomeness was

undeniable. Thinking of how he had charmed everyone in the company, whether male or female, made Stella

smile inwardly.
