Chapter 459 He didn't even notice her walk up—he had his back to her, totally caught up in his own world.
She, on the other hand, looked flawless. Her makeup was perfect, her figure tall and eye-catching, and honestly, she was gorgeous.
"Hey there, handsome. Want to be friends?" She flashed a flirty smile, holding out her phone with her Message QR code ready. "Mind if I add you?" Joshua was still on the phone, barely sparing her a glance as he waved her off.

Joshua took a couple of steps to the side, putting more space between them, his phone still glued to his ear. The woman pressed her lips together, a little annoyed, but she stayed put, waiting him out.
He didn't keep her waiting long. When Joshua finally hung up and turned around, she was still standing there, looking bold as ever.
"Wow, you really are something else. I've never seen a guy like you in real life," she said, grinning. "You're not from here, are you? Just visiting? I could show you around-free tour guide, what do you say?" Joshua still hadn't noticed Allison behind him, so she couldn't see his expression. But she was close enough to hear him answer, voice cool and distant: "No, thanks. I'm here to pick up my girlfriend." The woman's smile faded; she looked genuinely disappointed. "Oh, you're taken." She glanced over Joshua's shoulder and spotted Allison. Tilting her chin, she asked, "Is that your girlfriend?" That's when Joshua finally turned around. The second he saw Allison, all the coldness in his eyes vanished. His whole face softened, like winter melting into spring. "Allie." He crossed over to her in a few easy strides.
Allison's expression stayed calm and even. "What are you doing here?" "Work's slow lately, so I figured I'd cSee you," Joshua said, his voice suddenly gentle-so diff from how he'd sounded moment ago.
"I actually went by your office yesterday afternoon," he went on, smoothly taking the stack of case files from her arms like it was second nature, "and found out were here on a business tri place is famous for its scenery-July's the best tto visit. I had stime, so I thought I'd cspend a few days with you." Greenfield was tucked away in the northwest, one of the hottest travel spots in the country. The little town where they stood sat right at the foot of snowy mountains, with a gorgeous lake not far off-a place that drew tourists all year round.
Now that her case was wrapping up, Allison actually had a few free days ahead- tshe could spend enjoying the area.
It hadn't been part of her original plan.
She hesitated for a second, then decided to change her flight and stay a little longer.
Joshua had traveled all this way just to see her-she couldn't bring herself to turn him down.
Plus, the scenery here really was beautiful, exactly the kind of place! that made you want to slow down and breathe for a while.
She couldn't work nonstop forever. Sometimes you just needed sjust needed balance. After weeks of hard work, she deserved a little break. Allison met Joshua's eyes and said softly, "Alright. Let's stay a few more days before we head back." A smile tugged at Joshua's lips. "Perfect. Which hotel are you at? I'll walk you over." She told him.
"I'm staying there too. Let's go together," Joshua said.
Allison nodded. There was only one decent hotel in town anyway she'd kind of figured he'd be there too.
