As expected.
When news reached Fred, he was livid.
“Still saying he’s got nothing to do with Olivia? This is what ‘nothing’ looks like?” Now even seeing her was off
the table.
Grace's face darkened upon hearing the butler’s report.
Fred glanced at her and said, “Go to the hospital yourself tomorrow.”
“What about the Lucanos heir? We're supposed to review the contract with their chosen partner tomorrow.”
Fred's expression turned even darker. Just thinking about it made him want to drag Chris back hand knock
ssense into him.
Grace felt the same.
Meanwhile, after leaving the Ashford estate, Chris had been trying to get a location on the Lucanos heir, but
before he could, Grace called.
Her voice was cold, each word carrying weight. “From now on, you are not to see Olivia.”
Chris frowned. “This has nothing to do with her.”
His tone was firm, unwavering in his trust.
Grace scoffed. “We've been given a clear response, you are never to see her again. And you still think she has
nothing to do with this?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtChris was stunned, “What?”
“Chris, Olivia is nothing but trouble. No one knows what she was up to these past two years abroad, and now
she’s back, sick? Don’t be so naive.”
Her sharp tone was laced with implication.
Chris's lips pressed into a thin line, irritation flickering in his gaze. “Don’t talk about her like that.”
“Then tell me, how exactly did she end up with cervical cancer?”
“Do you really think that's something you can only get from marriage or having kids?” His voice was laced with
frustration.
Lately, rumors about Olivia's illness had spread, with people whispering all kinds of cruel things.
Chris could ignore most of them, but hearing it from his own mother-someone who had watched Olivia grow up-
was unacceptable.
“Mom, you know what kind of person Olivia is.”
Grace's voice was cold. “I've never thought she was a good person.”
‘Otherwise, why would she have set her sights on you while Stephanie was still in the hospital?”
To Grace, Olivia had always been a scheming woman-one who would bring nothing but chaos if she ever married

Ashford family.
And now? She hadn't even stepped through the door, and trouble was already knocking.
Chris’s expression darkened.
Grace pressed on. “Listen to me. From now on, you are not to see Olivia, especially before we finalize the deal
with the Lucanos.”
“You know we can’t afford to offend them right now.”
She didn’t care what happened after, but if Chris dared to see Olivia before the deal was set, Grace would make
sure Olivia paid the price.
The icy warning in her tone left no room for misinterpretation.
“Do you hear me?”
When he didn’t respond right away, her voice grew even sharper.
Chris finally spoke. “I hear you.”
If this was the price to close the deal, he would wait.
Satisfied, Grace hung up.
Chris, however, immediately dialed Olivia.
She picked up almost instantly, her voice soft yet filled with rare excitement.
“Chris, I've packed everything.”
Even through the phone, he could tell she was in good spirits-despite the fact that Fred's people were still

Olivia didn’t believe Fred would actually go head-to-head with his own son.
Hearing her say she had packed up, Chris felt a headache coming on. His brows furrowed, and his temple
throbbed.
“Chris? Chris?”
Olivia called his ntwice when he didn’t respond.
Truthfully, he had no idea what to say.
Just a week ago, he had confidently promised her she could move to Whispering Bay to recover.
But now? He couldn’t make it happen.
Growing up, he had never been denied anything. If he wanted it, he got it.
Yet, this time, even money couldn't fix the problem.
