On that evening, Lena’s phone malfunctioned, leaving her unable to pay for
her meal. The cafeteria staff gave her a hard time, and it was Gideon who
stepped forward to resolve the issue for her.
Although Gideon had long forgotten about this incident, Lena remembered it
vividly.
Perhaps it was this memory that made her less resistant to her subsequent
interactions with Gideon.

“Ms. Jenkins, do you need me to accompany you to the parking lot?” Rachel
asked outside the office.
Lena smiled and shook her head, “Your parents are visiting today, right? I’ll be

surprise, Gideon had sent her several messages an hour ago, explaining that
he had a last-minute meeting and would pick her up later.
After some consideration, Lena decided to head home on her own.
She sent a message to Gideon, quickly packed her things, and left.

felt the corridor was unusually empty today.
