“I have to tell Jack all this. He has the right to choose,” Mandy looked down and
thought.
Returning home in the evening, Jack keenly noticed that Mandy was in a bad
mood and looked at her worriedly. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Teammates?”
Although Jack didn’t know what had happened, he could tell from Mandy’s
attitude that their relationship might not be good.
Mandy nodded and strolled to the balcony.
“Have I never told you my past?” Mandy forced a soft smile.
Jack saw her look and felt a stabbing pain in his heart.
He stepped forward and hugged Mandy. “You don’t have to say anything if you
don’t want to.”
What he cared about was not her past but her present and future.
If her past made her suffer, he wished Mandy never remembered it.
Mandy looked at him for a while and suddenly smiled.
“Actually, it’s fine. After all, it’s been so long.” Mandy took out a cigarette and lit it
without bringing it to her mouth.
Looking at the rising smoke, she said softly, “I had a happy life before I was
twenty. I had parents, a happy family, and never worried about money.”
Mandy looked into the distance as if looking at the past herself through the
smoke.

everyone stayed away from her as if she was a virus.
Mandy once wanted to commit suicide. But she knew she couldn’t be selfish,
thinking of her parents’ concerned eyes.
By some chance, she met her teacher. At his place, Mandy met her best friends,
Bruce and Emma.
The two also became mercenaries due to misfortunes. The three quickly became
friends and formed a mercenary team. They took on any task for good pay.
“It was the happiest period since I became a mercenary,” Mandy said with regret.
