Chapter 517 Don’t Let Her Be Completely Disappointed
Looking around in the darkness, Evelyn suddenly felt a little scared. In such an environment, she might
be unable to protect this child!
Her head was in a mess, and she leaned against the wall and fell asleep unconsciously. The dampness
of the bed made her only half-sitting.
In the middle of the night, Evelyn was awakened from her sleep by a chilling sensation. Perhaps it was
because of the eerie environment, or she hadn’t covered herself with a blanket. She shivered and
opened her eyes, barely able to make out a faint glimmer of light seeping through the bottom of the
door.
What time was it?
She didn’t know how long she had slept. It couldn’t have been past six o’clock, as everyone was
required to get up at six in the morning.
She tightly wrapped her arms around herself, attempting to dispel the coldness that enveloped her

lifted one corner, covering her knees. Immediately, a strong odor resulting from bacteria breeding in the
confined space for a long time assaulted her senses.
Evelyn felt a wave of nausea rising, and despite her efforts to hold it back, she ultimately couldn’t resist
it. She quickly got out of bed, grabbed the pot originally used for urination, and began to retch
uncontrollably.
At first, her vomiting was not very loud, but as the frequency increased, she felt increasingly
uncomfortable. The unpleasant odor persisted, making her body feel extremely uneasy.
The prison officer outside the door heard the noise and knocked loudly on her door. His voice filled with
annoyance from being awakened from sleep. He said, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing…” Before Evelyn could finish her sentence, she began. to vomit again. She worried that her
pregnancy would attract others’ attention, but the reaction was much more serious than she had
imagined.
Afraid that something might happen, the prison officer opened the door and turned on the lights. He
looked at the distressed expression on Evelyn’s face as she huddled in the corner and furrowed his
brow. He asked, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
“No!” Evelyn quickly replied. “I’ve had a stomachache for the past few days. Maybe the discomfort has
worsened today because of the change of environment, but it’s nothing serious.”
“Do you need me to call a doctor?”
“No. There’s no need to trouble anyone. I’ll be fine after I finish
vomiting.” Despite the churning feeling in her stomach, Evelyn forced a smile. “I’m really okay.”
Seeing her like this, the prison officer naturally did not insist. It was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Calling the doctor over in the middle of the night would be troublesome. “Okay, be careful. Let me know
if you need anything.”
“Okay.” Seeing that he was about to leave, she asked anxiously, “By the way, could you tell me what
time it is now?”
“Half past four.”
It would be dawn in one and a half hours.

Evelyn heaved a sigh of relief. “Thank you.”

The door closed again, taking away the bright light with it. Evelyn stood in place, feeling as if her whole
body was submerged in the icy waters of winter. Her throat felt constricted as if blocked by salty
seawater, and even breathing required tremendous effort.
Before Huston left, he asked her to endure for a few days.
She also thought to herself, “Just endure it for a little longer. It won’t be much longer now. I’ve already
endured for a long time, haven’t I?” But it was not until this moment that she found that she couldn’t
stand it. Every minute felt like a torment, and she could even sense her emotions and physical strength
gradually wearing down.
The impact of the environment on a person was too great, and Evelyn didn’t know how long her weak
body could hold on.
Huston would never know how hard it was for her to get this result. She was waiting, waiting for the
final miraculous result.
She only hoped that this man would not let her be completely disappointed.
