Chapter 1714

“So insincere!” Mr. Beck frowned, “What are you afraid of, getting drunk? I have got you a suite here. Stay as long

as you like!”

Emily, left with no choice, took another sip of her drink.

Seeing Mr. Beck in high spirits, showing no signs of winding down, Cedric turned to Emily and said, “I’m out of

smokes, go fetch me a pack of Infinite Clouds, will ya?”

Mr. Beck immediately chimed in, “I’ve got Radiant Riffs here, smoke mine.”

“I’m used to these. Let Emily fetch them!”

Emily rose to go buy the cigarettes.

Awhile later, Emily called Cedric, “Mr. Cedric, the storekeeper says they’re out of Infinite Clouds, but they have

Platinum Puffs!”

Cedric snapped, “Can’t you handle a simple errand? Don’t you have a brain? If they don’t have it, go somewhere

else. If you can’t find it, don’t bother coming back!”

He hung up abruptly.

Mr. Beck chuckled, “Why the temper? It’s just a pack of cigarettes!”

Cedric laughed it off, “She’s new, still a bit clumsy. She needs to learn a lesson!”

“A pretty young thing like that needs to be pampered!” Mr. Beck smirked, raising his glass in a toast with Cedric,

“Let’s carry on!”

Across the street at the supermarket, Emily, holding her phone, was taken aback by Cedric’s scolding. She quickly

regained her composure and texted him back, [Thanks, Director, could you please bring my design drafts back to

the office when you leave? Thanks again!]

After sending the message, Emily hailed a taxi and headed home.

The next day, Mr. Beck called Emily, wondering why she had left early.

Emily brushed it off with an excuse, hoping to avoid Mr. Beck as much as possible in the future!

She just wanted to focus on her designs, without any complications.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans. The next day, the director, Ron, suddenly summoned her to his office.

Wearing a yellow and blue suit, Ron greeted Emily politely, offering her a glass of water, laughing, “Mr. Beck called

me. He’s very impressed with the villa you designed. He had nothing but praise for you!”

Emily smiled, “I appreciate Mr. Beck’s recognition!”

Ron paused, then began, “Here’s the thing, Mr. Beck is attending the International Trade Convention in N City and

he wants you to accompany him. It’s just for three days. You should prepare.”

Emily was taken aback, “Why would I go with Mr. Beck?”

“Emilyt” Ron leaned back in his chair, grinning meaningfully, “Mr. Beck has had a great impression of you since your

last meeting. He wants to take you with him to broaden your horizons. It’s for your own good. Accompany Mr. Beck

well for these three days, and he will surely treat you well!”

Emily shot up, “Mr. Ron, what do you mean by that?”

Ron waved his hand, “Don’t overreact. Sit down and talk!”

Emily sat down, her voice icy, “I’m not going!”

“Youre still young! What are you working so hard for? Isn’t it to earn money so you can live a dignified and

comfortable life? These three days can be worth three years, even ten years!” Ron tried to persuade her, “Mr.

Beck is our major client. He’s wealthy and well-connected. If you can please him, you won’t have to worry about

work in the future. It’s just three days, what’s the harm?”

“Moreover, Mr. Beck has said that as long as you accompany him for these three days, he will entrust all

construction matters of his villa, including the post-construction decoration, to us. I’ll give you a three percent

commission, and I promise that when you come back, I’ll find a reason to promote you to senior designer. How

about it?”
