Chapter 119 Everyone was trying to locate the source of the sound, but Serena's gaze had already settled on Aaron's slightly puffed chest.

A faint smile curled at the corner of her lips.

That ringtone—it was unmistakably Cynthia Lynwood's personal ringtone.

Serena had always suspected that Cynthia Lynwood wouldn't sit idly by and watch Aaron marry her.

Seeing the derision in Serena's eyes, Aaron irritably pulled out his phone and cut the call short.

Surprised, Serena raised an eyebrow.

She had expected Aaron to answer the call and leave her high and dry, as he had countless times before.

"Proceed," Aaron coldly instructed the bewildered officiant.

Snapping back to reality, the officiant asked, "Mr. Vance, do you..." Just then, in the audience, Victor's phone vibrated several times in his pocket.

He pulled it out, hesitated for a moment, and glanced up at Aaron on the platform. After a brief consideration, he decided to answer it.

"Hello..." The moment he heard the voice on the other end, Victor's expression shifted. He looked up at Aaron, who was slowly uttering the words, "I do." After a tense pause, Victor steeled himself and approached the stage, pressing up against the wall: "Mr. Vance, there's an urgent call." Aaron furrowed his brow, his gaze still locked on Serena.

The officiant turned to Serena, asking if she would take Aaron as her husband.

Serena's lips moved, but no words cout.

She didn't want to say "I do." But saying "I don't" would undoubtedly cause a stir.

It might jeopardize her plan to escape.

Just then, she caught a glimpse of Victor holding the phone out of the corner of her eye.

"Mr. Vance, you should take the call," she suggested.

The crowd finally noticed Victor, who had been standing in the shadows.

Aaron turned, casting an irritated glance at Victor, and took the phone.

Whatever was said on the other end made Aaron's face visibly darken. "Really?" "I'll be right there." With that, Aaron hung up the phone. He turned back to Serena with a hint of guilt in his eyes. "Serena, I'm sorry. Something urgent has cup, and I must attend to it immediately!" With those words, he strode purposefully toward the door.

His tall, commanding figure disappeared like a wisp of smoke.

Serena stood there, processing what had just happened.

Even though she had mentally prepared for this moment, seeing Aaron abandon her once again, in at their Wedding no less, made her heart feel as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand, leaving her breathless. "I told you, Mr. Vance would never marry Serena. See, we bet on the wrong horse again!" "What was that call about? Could it have been Miss Lynwood?" "Of course it was Cynthia Lynwood. Who else could make Mr. Vance leave with just one phone call?" The murmurs of the crowd reached William, who was sitting among them, his eyes growing colder. "Since the wedding is postponed, everyone should head home," he announced.

Although William wasn't from Alderburg, his status as Young m Master William ensured that even the older guests left without protest. Soon, the wedding venue was deserted, save for William in his white suit and Serena in her wedding gown.

"Do you think I'm pathetic?" Serena asked, snapping out of her daze, as she kicked off her high heels and sank into a chair.
