Willy poked his head in and said, "Can I cin and have a word with her alone?" Mr. Macklin hesitated. Then, he nodded and said, "Alright then. Just a short while though. I'll be dead meat i the boss finds out!" "Sure, five minutes is good enough!" Willy looked backward. A folder flashed before him. At that instant, Mr. Macklin signaled the assistant to leave. Willy strode in straight towards his target. At this moment, Lauren could be seen sitting on the bed. Motionless, she did not bother getting up.
She merely gave it a quick glance when a pair of glossy men's leather shoes cinto sight.
He could clearly see her look by now. Though he had seen countless beauties, Willy could not help but still be mesmerized by her beauty. Clad in coarse loose blue-gray clothing, there was a luster in her short ravishing hair. Her tiny chiseled face with well-developed facial features gave off a tenacious vibe.
At first glance, he could feel the aura of one sophisticated powerful woman.
If it wasn't for her emaciated figure, her being semi curled up on her knees, and her gaze which was filled with the fragility and tenderness of a woman, Willy would have had an alternative perception towards her.
Lauren looked away. Even though a stocky masculine figure was standing before her, she remained as cool as a cucumber. Willy could not help but kept looking at her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt was not customary to find women giving him the cold shoulder in Casterwich City.
After scanning her from head to toe, Willy directed his gaze at her delicate slender hand. He then squinted and said, "Lauren?" Her hands were suggestive of one who had led a comfortable life.
Stone-faced, she did not blink an eye.
Judging by her reaction, Willy knew what would happen next. He then took a piece of paper and asked her straight from the shoulder.
"Feel like going out for a walk? Tellwhat this is." He knew that she had graduated from a reputable university abroad and even managed to skip a grade. This would explain why she was able to land a teaching job at a university at such a young age. He had paid quite a sum of money getting a college professor to devise the question. If she was truly worth her salt, she should be able to solve the question.
"Solve this and you'll get sspecial treatment here." Though the paper nearly brushed her eyelids, she did not budge at all. "You'll get four dishes and a bowl of soup," Willy said. "How about that?" Knowing that the treatment in the prison was dreadful, he tried to tempt her. Nonetheless, she remained unperturbed and did not bother looking at him.
No one had ever given Willy the cold shoulder. He wondered if she had lost her mind or that something was amiss about her hearing.
"I reckon you do not live up to your reputation then. Chemistry genius and college belle of chemistry, huh? You sure about that? I'm wondering if you've actually bought that title with smoney." At this point in time, Willy turned even more suspicious. It was not that he looked down on women. Traditionally, women were not the ones who achieved breakthrough in science and engineering, much less someone of her age. Could it be that she was a fraud? At this time, Lauren remained unruffled. Willy was not used to staring at the back of her head. "Laur-r-ren," he stammered as he raised his hand.
Finally, Lauren looked at him. It was a cold and emotionless look. The woman who was curled up in front of him just a moment ago had moved three meters away from him. She could be seen curling up again almost instantly. Willy could not help but be bewildered for two seconds. How agile could she get? She must have undergone straining.
He could not tell from her soft and tender hands.
The tense atmosphere lasted for a few seconds before resuming to a complete silence. Had he not raised his hand, he would have suspected that it was an illusion. "Interesting!" Realizing that he could not take advantage of her, Willy stared at her before gradually withdrawing his hand. Then, he turned around and left.
"Master Bowles?" "Well, let's call it a day!" Before he left, Willy directed his gaze at the prison. That woman did have stricks up her sleeve! He shouldn't have approached her hastily. He had clearly underestimated her. "Let's go!" Thereafter, Willy left alongside Wyatt's personal assistant, Lexx Lopez.
Upon getting into the car, Willy uttered, "Go conduct a background search on this woman. The more detailed, the better!" "Sure, Willy," Lexx said. "She hasn't said anything though. Are you sure it's her?" Willy replied, "Since she hasn't been saying anything, all the more we have to investigate!" Willy could make a giant bend to his will. Hence, he felt confident that he could handle a woman like her. The more she acted that way, the more he wanted to hear her voice! Catching a glint of the interest in his eyes, Lexx did not say anything more and proceeded to start the car.
