"I should be able to chtomorrow afternoon once I'm done meeting with my client. Is there anything in particular that you want?" The place that he was at was not far away from home. However, there was nothing much going on where he was and there was nothing particularly special about it. Frederick didn't know what to get her! "I would love schocolates! You coming his already the best gift! If you could bring back a box of chocolate, it would be perfect!" As they talked on the phone, Alicia entered the bathroom to run a bath. After talking on the phone for a little while longer, she went back inside to take a bath. She was afraid that the water would get into her wound, so she deliberately filled only half of the tub. While she immersed herself in the water, she picked up her phone and scrolled through the news. Immediately, she saw a non the headline that was vaguely familiar.
It read, "Overheating in Pitchers Company's new product. The company issues a product recall." "The product recall would result in a heavy loss of more than 100 million dollars to the Pitchers Company." As she read the article, her thoughts wandered. Something had gone wrong with Jeremy's company? No wonder there hadn't been any news about them at all recently! They were busy putting out the fire in their own backyard! Could this year be an unlucky year? Why were the people around her, including herself, having such bad luck this year? Alicia shook her head, clasped her hands together, and muttered to herself, "Don't take it too seriously! Good things are waiting fornow that I've made it through such a huge incident. Good fortune awaits me..." As soon as she opened her eyes, her hands trembled a little and she almost dropped the phone into the water. Thankfully, she caught it before it fell in but she inadvertently brushed her wound. It was clear tha she felt the pain and she unconsciously reached out to touch her back. She had no idea how bad her wound was but she felt unpleasant about it.
She got up, took a shower, and went straight to bed. That night, she kept tossing and turning.
Alicia woke up the next morning and felt that her eyelids were twitching.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe sensed that something bad was going to happen. She could not help but sigh. Was something bad going to happen again? She felt a little uneasy and quickly sat up in bed to text Frederick. She reminded him to pay attention to his health and safety. Nothing else was more important than the person itself.
No matter what happened, there would always be a way out. Humans, however, only had one life! After receiving his reply, only then she headed downstairs to make breakfast while she applied a hot pack on her eyes. Then, she went to work in high spirits.
The morning was calm and everything was going very smoothly at work. Hence, Alicia put this matter behind her.
Alicia was in high spirits after waking up from her afternoon nap when she realized that Frederick would be hthat night. She switched on her computer and began studying the new products that the company had brought out. She also emailed a list of new product recommendations to the customers after going through the customers' preferences. As for the new customers, she complied a list of advantages of the new products in hopes that she would be able to gain new clients.
She was immersed in her work when she suddenly received a call via the intercom. "Alicia, please cto Conference Room 3 immediately!" "I'm on my way!" The call was from the assistant who was in charge of the conference. Alicia's heart was thumping hard as soon as she stood up. She had only translated one document, could it be that she made ssort of mistake? Instinctively, she quickly copied the document into a USB and ran to the conference room with the USB in hand. As she made her way to the conference room, she kept thinking and reflecting through her work. She had double checked her work before submitting. If it was said that the product introduction or other micro- filled areas had not be dis might be possible. However, in terms of the key data and contractual terms, she had checked it at least three times. She checked it once after translating each page and checked it again after translating the entire thing. Before she submitted her work, she went through it again. as she was afraid of making a mistake.
Most of the data were at the second half of the documents, of which, sshe had translated twice. When Alicia was confident in her work, she quickened her footsteps.
When she arrived at the conference room, she knocked on the door before entering. She saw that the head and staff of Technology Department, Sales Department, and International Department were sitting or both sides of the large conference table. The Director of the Technology Department, Chet, was seated at the head of the table.
Giselle was standing along with a female colleague.
She took in her surroundings as she had no idea who instructed her to be there. She was obviously a little confused. In addition, she was able to tell that those people were from which department judging by their uniform. She did not recognize the rest of the people in the room. She could only stand still and nodded her head.
What was happening? How big of a mistake was this? It did not need to be reviewed by the head of departments, did it? Just as she was immersed in her own thoughts, Giselle spoke.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmeel "Alicia, please explain why your work is exactly the sas the work submitted by Liane two days ago. Yes, they are largely similar, but they're still two different documents! Today's meeting is to discuss the feasibility of the whole matter! How could you copy and submit your colleagues' work? The moment Liane read the first sentence of the agreement, she could telbthat it was her work! Did you know that WDW-2 and WDW-20, though the only difference is an extra zero in the latter, are two completely different models? How is it possible that two tons and twenty tons are the same? Why did you copy her work? Where's your professionalism?" Giselle's voice raised as she spoke. She looked righteous and angry, as if she wanted to tear her apart.
"Did you know that your actions not affected only affected your colleagues, but also our department's reputation? It has definitely affected this meeting and may even interfere with the work of the other departments in this company! Do you have any idea how much loss it would cause the company?" Liane shot her a sideways glance and spoke up as well.
"When did you steal my work? Where's your professionalism? I was
the one who translated WDW-2. Look at this, the first five pages are exactly the sas mine! Every single word! You don't even have to read the rest of the documents We ever have the snumber of pages! Don't tellyou only translated the attachments!. The director even praised you for being professional, concise and comprehensive when you obviously plagiarized my work! You ought to give an explanation! What actually happened?"
Alicia frowned when she saw that she was receiving weird looks from the people in the room. They were making it sound like she was wholly responsible for the company's losses. She'd been a translator for so long, and this was the first tshe'd heard of translations being plagiarized. In fact, how could their translations be exactly the same? She had clearly worked overtin order to submit her work before the deadline. She even made sure to check her work before she handed them in. How could it be possible that she had plagiarized Liane's work? The company's email was a shared email. It made it convenient for everyone to share information with each other. However, the document folder which she had uploaded her work into could only be accessed by the managers! If this work was not the one translated by her, it could only mean that one of the managers was up to something. Someone was actually framing her! X
