Chapter 1643: Let her go.
The front door of the bamboo house opened, and Selena walked in barefoot.
Before her eyes was a green bamboo forest, with sleeping lotuses covering the tranquil pond. The sound of trickling water could be
heard in her ears.
Under the wooden porch roof lay soft cushions. A man dressed in a white robe sat cross-legged on top of them, his deep black hair
falling behind him. His features were profound and noble; he had a high nose bridge and skin that was uniquely pale and cold. He
exuded both pure elegance like sunshine on snow as well as aristocratic dignity.
A butterfly flew onto his shoulder from an unknown place, gently flapping its wings.
Everything was quiet.
Selena quietly approached the man's side, just like she had countless times when she was younger. She laid down next to him with
her head resting on his leg and closed her eyes peacefully.
After stpassed by unnoticed, the man slowly opened his eyes and looked down at his daughter's serene face. Having
experienced life-and-death situations before made Selena grow up significantly since she last saw him.
The pitch-black pupils of the man rested upon Selena who still carried traces of childishness in her brows and eyes - ice-cold
eyebrows that now held a touch of tenderness too.
At five years old when she first sat there beside him, Selena encountered many treacherous people early on despite all he taught
her to be strong enough to overcany obstacle thrown at her way.
He always taught her to be resilient through adversity because setbacks are wealth; only those who are not afraid to fail can stand
up again after each fall fully understanding what it means to survive.
However, he overlooked one thing: that this girl is still just an 19-year-old young woman struggling with growing pains.
How much effort did it take for this child to get here today?

Selena woke up feeling warm inside amidst tranquility while looking into the depths of those profound eyes belonging only to one
person -her father- whose love for their family knows no bounds nor conditions whatsoever!
Selena whispered, "Father."
The man's white fingers gently brushed Selena's black hair. "Go see your mother. She has been waiting for you."
Selena slowly sat up and faced the man in front of her. "Before | go, there is something | want to ask you."
Under the eaves, two white figures faced each other with a distant gap between them.
The man's eyes were calm. "Don't pursue anything about that person. Forget him as if he never existed."
"But | have seen him," Selena stubbornly looked at the man, "Unless you makeforget again, | cannot pretend he doesn't exist."
"But unfortunately-" Selena paused and a sharpness appeared in her eyes as she spoke slowly, "l am no longer who | was when |
was five years old. Even you cannot makeforget what | don't want to forget."
The man looked at his daughter across from him. "Even if pursuing this matter will deeply hurt your mother?"
A crack appeared in Selena's calm face, "So... is he really related to me?"
The man looked at his daughter's pale face and said softly: "All that can be said is that currently it is the best outcfor
everyone."
"If you insist on pursuing it will hurt many people who care about you - including yourself and your mother... and even that person
himself."
Selena froze.
The man looked at his daughter's lost expression with a touch of pity in his eyes: "In this world not all truths need to be
uncovered."
"When it hurts too many people not touching it is often the best choice."
Selena stared fixedly into her father's eyes: "Father... | don't understand..."
"lI don't need to understand," the man lowered his eyelashes gently. "Don't go digging into everything about that person, don't
touch anything related to him, and don't mention him in front of your mother."
Selena persisted in looking at him. "What can | do then?"
After a moment's pause, the man's voice continued. "You can remember... he loved you very much."
Selena got the answer she wanted and stood up slowly. In her pure black eyes shone a stubborn and cold light. "Father, | won't give
up."
With that said, she elegantly bowed and walked out.
Stanley stood outside the door and heard snoise. He looked up and saw Selena was not in a good mood.
Frowning, Stanley walked over to her. "Your Highness..."
Selena approached slowly and said to Stanley, "Let's go see my mother."
Stanley looked behind her direction before leading Selena away.
Horace watched Selena leave before turning around towards the door with a low voice saying: "The little princess looks very sad..."
There was no sound coming from inside.
Horace sighed deeply: "The little princess may seem soft but she is stubborn by nature; even if she knows that knowing the truth
may hurt her feelings badly but still won't give up."
"Mr. Soo has always been unable to deal with her temperaments well... and on top of that...that monarch who cback with
her...do you wantto do something?"
After a long pause, a voice finally emerged from under the eaves. "Let her go," it said.
Horace let out a deep sigh. The monarch had ultimately given in to the demands of his youngest daughter.
The reason she insisted on investigating the truth was not for anything else but to seek justice for that person. Perhaps this was

Selena left the bamboo hut and lowered her head in thought. Stanley watched her absent-mindedness and softly said, "Your
Majesty, going to see your mother like this will only worry her."
Selena blinked and finally cback to reality from being lost in thought. She stood still for a moment before speaking up again,
"My father toldhe loves me..."
Stanley immediately knew who she meant by 'he'. This surprised him slightly; he hadn't expected Selena's first question upon
seeing her father would be about that person - not even Osvaldo ranked higher than him in Selena's mind...
It seems like her interest in that person surpasses everyone's imagination.
"My father forbidsfrom investigating him, he says if | insist on doing so, it will hurt my mother..."
Stanley listened quietly and then asked, "Your Majesty, are you giving up?"
"No," Selena's face was determined. "I won't mention him in front of my mother, let alone let her know. | already know of his
existence and have even met him."
Selena turned to look at Stanley. "But | must investigate that person."
"lI want him to live openly in front of everyone, to let everyone know of his existence instead of being a... forgotten shadow who
lives alone with darkness all day long."
No one cares about him.
No one remembers him.
No one dares to mention him.
Clearly... he is likely the person who should have been sitting above millions of people.
Stanley looked at her quietly. "Your Majesty, these two wishes are contradictory."
She wants that person to live openly among people but if she does so her mother will inevitably find out about his existence.
