Chapter 678
Lucas frowned, feeling a sharp sting ever so slightly.
He looked up at Dicky, and saw the boy blushing. Dicky quickly got out of his seat with the excuse that
he was full.
Cordy noted her son's odd behavior. Since she wasn't watching when Dicky touched Lucas's head, she
didn't know what exactly he did.
She watched as he suddenly left, thinking that he probably got embarrassed —he never acted like that
before.
Still, they were fortunate that they weren't seated at the main table, where the elders were. Rules
weren't that strictly enforced on the other tables.
On the other hand, Nana watched as Dicky left. She turned to ask Lucas softly, "You really like Dicky,
don't you?"
"Why'd you say that?" Lucas asked in return, putting a shrimp on her plate.
He had been doting on her like that since the food arrived. The others on the table had teased her a

"Well, you're really nice to him," Nana said.
"Aren't I nice to you?"
"That's different!" Nana shook her head. "I'm your girlfriend."
"He's a kid."
"You like kids?"
"They're alright."
"I can give you one if you do..."
"Be good, and eat your greens. Get pregnant when you've recovered."
"You're unbelievable," Nana flushed right then.
Cordy listened as they flirted, wanting really badly to tell them to keep it down-that she could hear
them.
But naturally, she wasn't about to meddle that much.
Jean was not in a hurry to leave after dinner.
Perhaps feeling that family was more important with age, she had small talk with Jesse over tea, and
both families remained in Cranston Hall, 1
Lucas was probably gone by then, but Cordy didn't go out of her way to find him-it was just that she
found Nana alone, watching her phone in the living room.
Nana was supposedly inseparable with Lucas, but he probably left because something came up, given
his absence.
Cordy took no notice, and nonchalantly took a slice of cake from a servant, planning to bring it to Dicky.
The boy still enjoyed sweet food, and she was thinking about bringing him dessert after dinner.
However, just as she was about to head upstairs...
"Cordy."
Nana's sweet voice called out from behind.
Cordy stopped in her tracks, since she couldn't stay indifferent towards Nana's friendliness.
She turned to find that Nana's eyes were sparkling as the latter stared at the slice of cake in Cordy's
hands. 'That cake looks so tasty..."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCordy actually envied Nana-a glutton who never gets fat, even a little too slim.
It wasn't surprising that Lucas had been really worried about her health all this while.
"Do you want it?" Cordy asked.
"Can I?"
"Of course. There's plenty to go around—I'll just get another," Cordy said.
"Thanks, Cordy!" Nana didn’t shy away at all.
She gave this impression that she was sweet and charming, yet it didn't leave people repulsed.
Such was probably the difference between a natural and pretentious person.
Cordy gave Nana the cake, and Nana took a bite; her eyes gleamed in satisfaction, as if she never had
any in her life prior to this.
But given the Lynds' background, they definitely could afford expensive cakes, even if they weren't as
powerful as the Cranstons. 1
Perhaps it was simply Cordy's preferences for gourmet food.
Anyway, Cordy thought nothing of it.
