Chapter 359
There were a couple of reasons why Cordy suspected so.
Firstly, there was warmth in Zoe's voice when she talked about the silver lining. Zoe was not one to lie
and cover up her emotions. She was probably trying to convey that an exciting chapter was about to
begin in her life.
Secondly, John said that Jay would take care of Zoe. If they could be honest with each other and
resolve the misunderstanding between them, she believed it would only be a matter of time till they got
together.
"Why do you say so?" Zoe counter-questioned.
Despite the changes that Cordy sensed, traces of Zoe's exaggerated character were still preserved.
Cordy furrowed her brow.
"How could it be possible between me and Jay?! It's good enough if he manages to take care of
himself. How would he dare to come close to me? Jay and I..." Zoe paused for a moment before going
on, "I admit that I felt upset, having remained single for so many years and waiting for Jay. I cheapened
myself so much that I thought it was fine even if he didn't like me and had relationships with other

Cordy tightened her grip over her phone, hesitating about saying certain things in her mind.
Zoe went on. "I refused to admit previously that I still had feelings for Jay. I wasn't just lying to you
guys, I was lying to myself. I wanted to make myself look carefree and that nothing that Jay did could
affect me. But in fact, I was very miserable because of him. Many times, I would pour myself into my
work or drown myself with alcohol just so I could forget about him and the pain in my heart..."
"Zoe, actually..."
"But things are good now. I've really let go of things." Zoe cut Cordy off midsentence. "I've fallen for
someone else."
"What?” Cordy was shocked.
"I couldn't believe it myself either-it turns out that affections can shift in an instant, just like that," Zoe
chuckled. Back then, when I confessed to Jay, everything was good between us that night. Yet, the
next day, he went hugging another woman, being all intimate and clingy. I thought he was deliberately
provoking me and perhaps trying to reject me for some
reason. But I now realize that I was thinking too much. Affection really can just change in a blink of an
eye.”
"Are...you bluffing me?" Cordy really hated doubting Zoe, but this was all too sudden.
How could Zoe possibly suddenly fancy another person in such terrible circumstances and at such
speed?
She was even starting to get worried that Zoe might fall prey to a scam.
"I didn't want to tell you about this since it is rather fast and I was worried you might find me easy," Zoe
said in slight embarrassment.
Easy? Zoe?
She was pure to a fault, given the fact that she was immersed in the entertainment circle that was in
itself a terrible influence.
Zoe had liked a person for eight whole years, for goodness' sake.
"But I was also scared that you guys were truly concerned for me, so I figured telling the truth was the
best." Zoe took a deep breath, as if gathering up her courage, and she said, "It's Bob."
Cordy was so shocked she almost dropped her phone.
Did she hear Zoe wrongly?!

Although she seldom saw them together, she somehow instinctively felt that they were two people from
different worlds!
"You find it unbelievable too, don't you? I really treated Bob as a brother, but who knew that he had a
crush on me for many years? Think about it - someone so cheerful and outgoing having a secret crush
on someone for so long...l really didn't sense a thing and was so moved by Bob when I found out."
"Being moved doesn't equate to love..." Cordy reminded her.
"I knew you'd say that. Sometimes, being moved can turn into love. Think about it-aside from love at
first sight, aren't all relationships nurtured through time? And how do affections come by and
relationships grow? Isn't it because the other party does something to move you? I didn't expect myself
to fancy someone like Bob either, but after accepting him, I now find myself unable to reject him at all."
Cordy could clearly sense the happiness in Zoe's voice.
This was a huge contrast to the phone conversation with Quinn and Zoe last night.
Last night, no matter what Zoe said, she could not feel any hope or aspiration Zoe had in her life.
But now, she could feel it.
So, were things over just like that between Zoe and Jay? The thought of Jay...
